April will be observed as National Child Abuse Prevention Month. The local observance will be spearheaded by the Family Resource Center.
This year’s theme is “Powered by Hope, Strengthened by Prevention”. Tina Bartleson, FRC Executive Director, asserts that hope is very powerful in the prevention of child abuse.
Events will begin with Pinwheel Placement this Thursday, April 3rd at 12 pm at the Harbin Clinic Heart Center, 504 Redmond Road. Bartleson invites the public to join and wear blue!
This Friday, April 4th will be Wear Blue Day. Those who wear blue in honor of child abuse prevention are urged by Bartleson to take pictures to share on FRC’s social media outlets.
A CAP Month Celebration will take place on Friday, April 25th at the regular meeting of the Rome Exchange Club. Those interested in attending should RSVP by April 16th at [email protected].

Bartleson states that the FRC will be joined by many other local non-profits for the observance of CAP Month throughout April.
