THE BEGINNING OF SPRING WILL BE BUSY FOR CHIEFTAINS MUSEUM/MAJOR RIDGE HOME

The beginning of Spring 2025 will be busy for the Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home, located at 501 Riverside Parkway in Rome.

The museum’s lecture series on women in Cherokee history will continue this Thursday evening at 6 pm with a presentation by Irina Garner from the Chief Vann House State Historic Site in Chatsworth. This presentation is entitled “Anna Rosina Gambold and the Moravian Mission to the Cherokee: Healer, Gardener, and Chronicler”, according to Cameron Abney, Chieftains’ Interim Director.

The lecture is free and open to the public. It is funded by the Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundation.

Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home will host another Toddler Time this Friday morning at 10:30 am. Toddler Time is offered on the third Friday of every month to kids ages five and under and their parents/guardians, enthuses Abney.

Admission to museum members is free and costs $10 each for all potential members.

The Chieftains Herb and Plant Sale will be held on Saturday, April 12th from 9 am to 4 pm and Sunday, April 13th from noon to 4 pm at the Coosa Valley Fairgrounds in Rome. Members may shop early on Friday, April 11th starting at 5:30 pm. A wide variety of herbs, plants, and more will be available for purchase, says Abney.

Proceeds from the sale will benefit Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home, a

National Historic Landmark and one of few private entities to be certified by the National Park Service as a site on the Trail of Tears.
