Media release from ShowSavvy Productions:
The internationally renowned Ballet Magnificat! will return to the Rome City Auditorium on Sunday, March 9, featuring Rome native Isaac Brackett among its talented company of dancers. The troupe will present a compelling narrative based upon the C.S.Lewis classic, The ScrewTape Letters. This performance in Rome is part of a broader tour, including stops in Tennessee, Mississippi, Florida, and New Jersey before traveling to Kosovo and parts of the Czech Republic later this Spring.
This year they will bring a two-act story ballet Strategem based on C.S. Lewis’s allegory, The Screw Tape Letters. The performance is a masterpiece choreographed by Tara Thibodeaux Drew. Tara is the daughter of the company’s founder Kathy Thibodeaux and Keith Thibideaux who America watched grow up playing Little Ricky on the I Love Lucy Show. Stratagem is an engaging ballet that masterfully reveals the spiritual battle being waged by Satan and his demonic forces. With opposing angelic forces, complex human characters, and a set of quirky, precocious demons, audience members are invited to partake in a playful yet sobering story of temptation and redemption.
The plot of the show twists and turns as Professor Dreadsworth sends his most villainous pupils to take advantage of talented dancers that struggle with the spirits of Vanity, Greed and Condemnation. In a high energy conflict Dreadsworth brings in heavy Guilt, oppressive Shame, stark Condemnation, and dark Depression in his great struggle to pull his victims away from a happy ending. The story is told in contemporary choreography and high energy athleticism. The upbeat vibe, quirky costumes and special effects will remind you of Beetlejuice and The Addams Family Musical.
Following the performance the young performers meet with the audience to provide inspiration, encouragement and when appropriate an opportunity for prayer.
This one-night-only performance begins at 6:30 PM on Sunday, March 9. It will be the troupe’s final performance in Georgia this season. Advance tickets can be purchased at North Broad Animal Clinic. Discounted rates for seniors, students, and groups are available at ShowSavvyProductions.com or by searching “Ballet” on the Eventbrite app. Tickets will also be available at the door for $25.
