Habitat for Humanity – Coosa Valley recently broke ground on its 61st home build and seeks volunteers to help with construction.
The home is being built in North Rome in memory of John Hine, according to Betsy Allgood, Executive Director. Hine, who passed away in September, was an ardent donor and supporter of Habitat.
Construction is tentatively slated for completion in late Summer to early Fall, says Allgood, who adds that volunteers are needed to pitch in their assistance. Visit www.habitatcoosavalley.org to view the volunteer calendar.
The family of Tyana Freeman will benefit from this build and will assist with the construction.
Allgood says that Habitat not only seeks those who are handy with a hammer, they also need volunteers to work concessions at Rome Emperors games this Spring and Summer. The non-profit will again this year receive a portion of the proceeds from those concessions.
Those who want to learn more about Habitat are encouraged by Allgood to attend the “Let’s Taco ‘Bout Housing! Lunch and Learn with Habitat Coosa Valley” scheduled for Tuesday, March 18th at 12 pm in the Conference Center at Georgia Northwestern Technical College’s Floyd County campus. Tacos will, of course, be served to attendees. For more details, search for the event on Facebook.
