Media release from Shorter University:
Shorter University is honored to once again receive a generous grant from the Georgia Baptist Health Care Ministry Foundation.
The Georgia Baptist Health Care Ministry Foundation is a supporting organization that provides financial assistance to the health care ministry of the Georgia Baptist Mission Board. The foundation manages charitable assets and distributes funds in the form of grants to support health care needs benefiting organizations throughout Georgia.
In 2025, the Georgia Baptist Health Care Ministry Foundation was able to award $8,977,3991 to 87 organizations across Georgia. Over the last 19 years, the foundation’s grants have impacted 5,403,616 lives.
Dr. Don Dowless, President of Shorter University, attended the foundation’s Grant Distribution Luncheon, where he accepted the grant on behalf of the University.
This year, Shorter University received funds to support its nursing program, with additional funding awarded specifically for nursing student scholarships, continuing the foundation’s meaningful impact on the University.
“Shorter University is deeply grateful to receive this grant again,” said Dr. Dowless. “We are blessed to be part of the Georgia Baptist Mission Board and to work alongside the Georgia Baptist Health Care Ministry Foundation. Their continued support plays a crucial role in helping us fulfill our mission of Transforming Lives through Christ and advancing our nursing program to prepare future health care professionals.”
