Northwest Georgia Hunger Ministries teamed up with the YMCA of Rome and Floyd County, Feeding America, and other community partners to host a Complimentary Produce Market at the YMCA’s Grizzard Park in Rome on Monday afternoon.
Lindsey Kilby, Executive Director, says that 10,000 pounds of produce were offered to those in need – free of charge. This offering is an extension of the Atlanta Community Food Bank’s Mobile Pantry initiative.
Those who missed the February event will have two other opportunities to get free produce on the last Mondays in March and April, according to Kilby, who urges the public to visit Northwest Georgia Hunger Ministries’ page on Facebook for updates. She also requests volunteers to unload and distribute the produce to attendees.
Northwest Georgia Hunger Ministries serves Floyd, Polk, and Chattooga Counties. For more information, visit www.hungerministries.org. Volunteer registration and donations are accepted via that website.
