AMERICAN RED CROSS OF NORTHWEST GEORGIA SEEKS BLOOD DONATIONS TO OFFSET WINTERTIME DECLINE

The American Red Cross of Northwest Georgia urges community members to donate blood now to help offset a decrease in donations over the Winter.

Carla Maton, Executive Director, attests that the nationwide decline is due in large part to natural disasters (such as the wildfires in California) and severe weather.

Concerned individuals may register to donate at www.redcrossblood.org. A blood drive will take place at the chapter office at 112 John Maddox Drive in Rome on Thursday, March 6th from 1 pm to 6 pm.

The Red Cross will offer free A1C testing to those who donate in March, says Maton. The test is commonly used to screen for diabetes.

In addition to blood donations, the chapter continues to seek new volunteers and financial contributions. For more information, visit www.redcross.org.
