Ten Rome High School students have been named Governor’s Honors Semifinalists. These 10 students now advance to the final round of interviews for selection into the prestigious summer program.
The 10 Students include:
- Emerson Hunter, Dance
- Andrew Neal, Music, Brass: Trombone
- Isha Garg, Science, Biology/Environmental Science
- Nina Mayer, Communicative Arts
- Emillie Maloney, Dance
- Lucy Johnson, Dance
- Yash Garg, Social Studies
- Noah Beard, Theatre
- Delilah Beaston, Visual Arts
- Liam Cantrell, World Languages, Spanish
“We are extremely proud of these students. They have worked very hard in their respective areas, and we know they will represent Rome High School well,” Rome High Principal Parke Wilkinson said.
Each individual is nominated in a specific category and must complete interviews and auditions depending on the category.
The Georgia Governor’s Honors Program, more commonly known as GHP, is a residential summer program for skilled, knowledgeable, and talented high school sophomores and juniors. GHP offers instruction that is significantly different from the typical high school classroom and is designed to provide students with the academic, cultural, and social enrichment necessary to become the next generation of global critical thinkers, innovators, and leaders.
More than 4,400 Georgia students were nominated to the state-wide competition with roughly 1,500 of those being selected as semifinalists.
