Semifinalists for the statewide Governor’s Honors Program have been announced, and current junior Fucheng Li has been selected to advance in the Agricultural Research, Biotechnology and Science category.
“Fucheng is an excellent student,” said Director of Upper School Chad Woods. “He has taken the most challenging science and math courses we offer. This recognition is well-deserved and I know Fucheng will continue to represent the school well. I am very proud of him!”
Interviews for semifinalists will take place at Georgia Southern University on March 1, and finalists and alternates will be notified on March 21.
A boarding student since the tenth grade, Li has completed two AP courses. He is currently enrolled in four AP courses and one Honors course. Li is also a member of the Upper School Orchestra.
The Georgia Governor’s Honors Program (GHP) is a residential summer program for gifted and talented high school students who will be rising juniors and seniors during the program. The program offers instruction that is significantly different from the typical high school classroom and that is designed to provide students with academic, cultural, and social enrichment necessary to become the next generation of global critical thinkers, innovators, and leaders.
A boarding student from Atlanta, Ga., Li is the son of Zhinong Li and Qingyao Wan.
