Media release from Rome Little Theatre:
“Pride and Prejudice” by Kate Hamill is a bold, surprising, and boisterous adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic novel exploring the absurdities and thrills of finding the perfect (or imperfect) match in life. The outspoken Lizzy Bennet is determined to never marry, despite mounting pressure from society. But can she resist love, especially when that vaguely handsome, mildly amusing, and impossibly aggravating Mr. Darcy keeps popping up at every turn?!?!
Literature’s greatest tale of latent love has never felt so theatrical, or so full of life than it does in this effervescent adaption. Because what turns us into greater fools than the high-stakes game of love? Starring Emily Earp as Elizabeth Bennet and Trey Wilkerson as Mr. Darcy, the RLT cast is led by director Mandy Maloney.
“This story is one of the greatest love stories of all time. It’s the original enemies to lovers, and full of heart and humor” Maloney said. “What I love about this script and these actors is that they are honoring these characters in a way that will be familiar to all who love this story, yet you will see another side too. There are real moments of heartbreak and sacrifice that will make us all see life in Jane Austen’s time through another lense. This cast will make you laugh so hard in one moment, and bring you to tears in the next. Their talent is unmatched, and I’m so honored to work with them on a show that means so much to us all”.
“Pride and Prejudice” runs Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm., and Sundays at 2:30p.m. February 14-23 at the DeSoto Theatre, 530 Broad St., Rome, GA 30161. Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors/students and can be purchased by calling the box office at 706-295-7171, Tuesday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., or by visiting the theatre’s website at www.romelittletheatre.com.
