GOT GARDENING CONCERNS WITH WINTER WEATHER IN THE FORECAST? FLOYD COUNTY’S UGA EXTENSION AGENT KEITH MICKLER HAS ANSWERS

The threat of winter weather likely has some gardening enthusiasts concerned about tender vegetation and items already planted in preparation for spring.

Keith Mickler, Floyd County’s UGA Extension Agent, states that a blanket of snow might actually provide a layer of protection for some plants.

Gardeners that protect their plants with pine straw and blankets are reminded by Mickler to remove coverings when temperatures rise above freezing.

Those with agricultural concerns may call the Floyd County Extension Office at (706) 295-6210.
