ROME-FLOYD FIRE DEPARTMENT: BE PREPARED FOR COLDER WEATHER

Be prepared for colder weather. This is the message of the Rome-Floyd Fire Department.

Inevitably, people will break out their space heaters with chilly temperatures in the forecast this week. Shasta Farrer, Life and Fire Safety Educator, urges users to plug those heaters directly into a wall outlet, do not use an extension cord.

And, of course, leave plenty of space around those space heaters. Keep those at least three feet away from anything that can burn.

Daytime highs will be in the low 40s and overnight lows will dip into the 20s (and even upper teens) through the rest of the week, according to the National Weather Service. There is a chance for a rain/snow mix in the forecast as we head into the weekend.
