LIVING PROOF RECOVERY TO HOLD 2ND ANNUAL CASINO NIGHT FUNDRAISER

Media release from LivingProof Recovery:

The fringe and feathers of the roaring twenties will return on November 8, 2024, as LivingProof Recovery hosts their second annual Casino Night Fundraiser. Held at the elegant Taylor Estate (549 Minshew Rd. Rome, GA), from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., the event will offer food, fun, fantastic raffle prizes and absolutely no gambling. Funds raised at this event will benefit the development of LPR’s NextDoor for Men, a peer-led recovery residence dedicated to supporting male peers who are in or seeking recovery from substance misuse and co-occurring disorders.

Tickets can be purchased for individuals at $50, or for couples at $80. Included in each ticket price is $500 in Casino Cash, or “Funny Money” that can then be used to play a variety of casino-style games like Blackjack, Poker, Roulette, and Craps. Casino Cash converts into raffle tickets that can be used to win raffle prizes.

“The funds raised during Casino Night will go toward initial costs for NextDoor for Men including housing, furniture, work-ready items for residents like identification documents or work clothes, and household supplies,” said LPR Executive Director Brittney Galvanauskas.

This additional program is modeled after the success of NextDoor at LivingProof Recovery, a recovery residence for women, in operation since 2019. The program provides safety, structure and the tools to break the cycle of recidivism. Since its inception, the program has supported more than 100 residents and 25 graduates. 76 percent remain in recovery after graduating.

“By expanding this model, we can offer more individuals a multiple pathway approach to long-term recovery,” Galvanauskas added. “This program will provide vital services to men, and the effects will ripple out to their families and the Rome/Floyd community as a whole.”

Galvanauskas affirmed that community involvement strengthens partnerships and resources, amplifying the impact of LPR’s programs and increasing long-term recovery outcomes.

“It helps to reduce stigma around substance use and mental health challenges and fosters more compassionate environments by creating spaces for conversations, education and questions,” she said. “We want to allow our community members to take part in saving the lives of our neighbors, provide them opportunities to become a part of the solution and give them the chance to embody the phrase it takes a commUNITY to heal a community.”

All are invited to join LPR in supporting NextDoor for Men and making a tangible difference in the lives of men seeking recovery in our community.
