FLOYD COUNTY EMA: BE WEATHER-AWARE OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS

The Floyd County Emergency Management Agency is warning locals to be weather-aware over the next few days as forecasters expect heavy rain and strong winds from remnants of Hurricane Storm Helene to impact Northwest Georgia.

Tim Herrington, Floyd EMA Director, urges the public to check out the Floyd County Emergency Management Agency page on Facebook throughout the coming days for weather-related updates and preparedness tips.

Information about severe weather is also relayed via the Floyd EMA mobile app and the Code RED emergency notification system, says Herrington, who adds that it’s not a bad idea to also have an NOAA weather radio (and be sure that it’s in proper working order).

Helene is anticipated to impact this area late Thursday and into Friday. That system will be preceded by showers and possibly thunderstorms Wednesday. There is a tropical storm warning in effect until further notice. A flood watch has been issued by the National Weather Service from 2 pm on Wednesday until 2 pm on Friday.
