ATLANTA BRAVES COMPLETE SWEEP IN MINNESOTA OF TWINS, ONWARD TO PHILADELPHIA FOR NL EAST SHOWDOWN VERSUS PHILLIES

The Atlanta Braves defeated the Minnesota Twins 5-1 on Wednesday night in the finale of a three-game set at Target Field in Minneapolis, MN. It allowed Atlanta to sweep the series.

Jorge Soler got the Braves on the board with a solo home run in the top of the first inning. The Twins tied it up at 1-1 with an RBI single by Willi Castro in the bottom of the sixth. The Braves surged ahead with three runs during the seventh on an RBI double by Matt Olson, an RBI single by Ramon Laureano, and a two-run double by Luke Williams.

Chris Sale picked up his 15th win of the season for Atlanta after giving up one run and six hits, walking one, and striking out six in six innings. David Festa was charged with the loss for Minnesota.

The Braves improved to 73-60 on the ’24 season and remain in second place of the National League East, currently five games behind the division-leading Philadelphia Phillies. The Braves will begin a four-game set in Philadelphia versus the Phillies this evening. First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 pm.
