ATLANTA BRAVES WRAP UP WESTERN ROAD TRIP WITH WIN IN LOS ANGELES, CA OVER ANGELS

The Atlanta Braves concluded a 10-game road trip out west with a win over the Los Angeles Angels by 3-1 on Sunday afternoon in the last meeting of a three game set at Los Angeles, CA. It led to a 2-1 series win for the Braves, who went 6-4 on their road trip.

Matt Olson got the Braves on the board with an RBI single in the top of the first inning. Ramon Laureano clubbed a solo home run in the fourth. The Angels scored a run when Mickey Moniak was hit by a pitch with bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth. Jarred Kelenic drove in another run for the Braves with a sac fly in the eighth.

Charlie Morton was Atlanta’s winning pitcher. He gave up only one run and two hits, walked two, and struck out seven over five and one-third innings of work. Raisel Iglesias got the save. Jack Kochanowicz was charged with the loss for LA.

Unfortunately, Austin Riley exited the game in the first inning after being hit on the right hand by a pitch. Additional testing is anticipated for today.

The Braves remain in second place of the National League East with a record of 66-58 on the 2024 season. They are off today and will open up a six-game homestand on Tuesday night with the first meeting of a three-game set versus the first-place Philadelphia Phillies.
