The Rome-Floyd Recycling Center, 412 Lavender Drive in Rome, will host a Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Recycling Event on Saturday, September 21, 2024.
Appointments are required and may be made online via the SignUpGenius link at www.floydcountyga.gov starting next week or by telephone at (706) 291-5266 starting on the first business day of next month, says Emma Wells, Director of Solid Waste for Floyd County. She adds that this is the last chance in 2024 to get rid of household hazardous waste, including liquids like used motor oil and paints.
Herbicides and pesticides will also be collected. Electronic items typically gathered include computers, televisions, recorders, and most any peripheral type equipment like printers and keyboards.
The event is for Rome/Floyd residents only, and will be held from 9:00AM until slots are filled. Please be sure to have proof of Floyd County residency for the event (vehicle tag, license, utility bill, etc.).
Only electronics will be gathered at the final recycling event of this year on Saturday, November 9th.
Wells says that Scrap Tire Amnesty Days will return on October 18th and 19th. For details, visit the Rome-Floyd Recycling Center’s Facebook page.
