ATLANTA BRAVES DROP SERIES FINALE IN COLORADO TO ROCKIES, ONWARD TO SAN FRANCISCO FOR SET VS. GIANTS

The Atlanta Braves lost to the Colorado Rockies 9-8 on Sunday afternoon in the finale of a three-game set at Coors Field in Denver, CO. That allowed the Rockies to take the series by 2-1.

The Braves struck first with a solo home run by Austin Riley in the top of the first inning. Travis d’Arnaud contributed a two-run shot in the fourth. The Rockies notched a pair of runs in the bottom of that inning on a fielder’s choice by Jake Cave and RBI single by Jacob Stallings. Jorge Soler clubbed a three-run homer for the Braves in the seventh. Matt Olson drove in another run with an RBI double in that inning. Soler hit another homer in the top of the eighth. The Rockies, however, surged ahead with seven runs during the bottom of the inning on a two-run homer from Cave, two-run single by Charlie Blackmon, RBI single from Ryan McMahon, and two-run double from Brendan Rogers. They won the game, again, by a final score of 9-8.

Joe Jimenez was charged with the loss for Atlanta. Josh Rogers got the win and Victor Vodnik picked up the save for Colorado.

The Braves will continue their current 10-game road trip out west tonight with the first of four games in San Francisco, CA against the Giants. First pitch is slated for 9:45 pm Eastern.
