The Atlanta Braves beat the Milwaukee Brewers by 5-1 on Tuesday night in the middle outing of a three-game National League set in Milwaukee, WI. It evened the series at a game each.
The Braves notched four runs in the top of the third inning on RBI singles from Austin Riley and Marcell Ozuna, along with a two-run single by Eddie Rosario.
Jarred Kelenic, a Milwaukee area native, contributed a solo home run in the fourth.
The Brewers scored their lone run of the evening in the bottom of the seventh inning on an RBI single from Gary Sanchez.
Bryce Elder was Atlanta’s winning pitcher. He gave up just that one run and five hits, walked one, and struck out seven in six and a third innings of work. Joe Ross was charged with the loss for Milwaukee.
The Braves remain in second place of the National League East with a record of 57-49. The Brewers lead the NL Central at 61-46. The Braves will finish their current seven-game road trip with the series finale in Milwaukee versus the Brewers this afternoon. The first pitch is set for 2:10 pm.
