ATLANTA BRAVES BEAT SAN DIEGO PADRES IN FINAL GAME BEFORE THE MLB ALL STAR BREAK

The Atlanta Braves finished a seven-game road trip out west with a 6-3 win over the San Diego Padres on Sunday in the finale of a three-game set at San Diego, CA. Atlanta took the weekend series by 2-1 and went 4-3 on the road trip.

The Padres opened the scoring with an RBI single by Xander Bogaerts in the bottom of the first inning. Matt Olson had an RBI single for the Braves to tie the game at 1-1 in the top of the fourth. Adam Duvall gave Atlanta a 2-1 lead in the fifth with an RBI single. Travis d’Arnaud clubbed a three-run homer in the top of the sixth.

Luis Campusano had a two-run homer for the Padres during the bottom of the seventh. D’Arnaud hit another homer for the Braves in the top of the eighth.

D’Arnaud also had a stolen base, the third of his 12-year major league career.

Chris Sale picked up his MLB-best 13th win of the season for Atlanta after he surrendered just one run and four hits, walked two, and struck out four in five innings of work. Raisel Iglesias was credited with the save. Randy Vasquez was charged with the loss for San Diego.

The Braves enter the ’24 MLB All-Star break in second place of the National League East with a record of 53-42. They will return to action on their home field on Friday night with the opener of a three-game set against the St. Louis Cardinals.
