ATLANTA BRAVES WRAP UP HOMESTAND WITH SHUTOUT WIN OVER PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES, TRIO OF BRAVES HEADED TO 2024 MLB ALL STAR GAME

The Atlanta Braves wrapped up a nine-game homestand with a 6-0 shutout victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday afternoon in the finale of a three-game National League East set at Truist Park. Atlanta took that series by two games to one and went 5-4 on their homestand.

The Braves scored five runs off of Michael Mercado during the bottom of the second. Adam Duvall got it all started with a home run to lead off the inning.

Jarred Kelenic contributed a three-run homer, while Matt Olson added a solo shot.

Eli White also clubbed a solo home run during the bottom of the sixth inning, his first homer in the majors.

Reynaldo Lopez was Atlanta’s winning pitcher. He surrendered just two hits, walked three, and struck out six over six scoreless innings. Michael Mercado was charged with the loss for Philadelphia.

Sunday’s victory was the Braves’ 11th shutout of the 2024 season. It marked just the third time that the Phillies have been blanked this year.

Atlanta improved to 49-39 and remains in the second place of the National League East, eight games behind first-place Philadelphia. The Braves will begin a seven game road trip out west tonight with the first of four games in Phoenix, AZ against the Arizona Diamondbacks. First pitch is scheduled for 9:40 pm Eastern. In other news from the Braves, designated hitter Marcell Ozuna and pitchers Reynaldo Lopez and Chris Sale are headed to the 2024 MLB All-Star Game, scheduled for July 16th in Arlington, TX. These three Braves were named to the National League roster on Sunday night.
