ATLANTA BRAVES COMPLETE SWEEP WITH SHUTOUT WIN OVER DETROIT TIGERS

The Atlanta Braves finished a six-game homestand with a 7-0 shutout victory over the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday afternoon in the finale of a three-game set at Truist Park. That allowed Atlanta to sweep the series.

Ozzie Albies got the Braves on the board with an RBI single in the bottom of the second inning. Sean Murphy had a two-run homer in the third. Ramon Laureano made it 4-0 in favor of Atlanta with a home run to lead off the bottom of the fourth. Albies also scored on a throwing error in that inning. Murphy clubbed another two-run homer in the fifth.

Reynaldo Lopez was Atlanta’s winning pitcher. He surrendered seven hits, walked one, and struck out six over five scoreless innings. Tarik Skubal took the loss for Detroit.

The Braves went 5-1 during their homestand and remain in second place of the National League East with a record of 41-31 on the 2024 regular season. They are off today and will open a seven-game road trip with the first of three outings in New York against the Yankees this Friday night. First pitch is set for 7:05 pm.
