The Atlanta Braves beat the Detroit Tigers 2-1 on Monday night in game one of a three-game set at Truist Park.
The Tigers struck first with an RBI single from Riley Greene in the top of the sixth inning. The Braves tied it in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI single from Forrest Wall. Ozzie Albies put the Braves on top with a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth.
Atlanta starting pitcher Max Fried gave up just one run and four hits, walked three, and struck out six over five and one-third innings. Daysbel Hernandez picked up the win in relief, and Joe Jimenez got the save. Shelby Miller was charged with the loss for Detroit.
The Braves remain in second place of the National League East with a record of 39-31. The Tigers are in fourth place of the American League Central with a record of 34-38.
