The Atlanta Braves wrapped up a nine-game road trip with a 6-3 victory in Baltimore, MD over the Orioles on Thursday afternoon in the last meeting of a three game series. It allowed Atlanta to snap a five-game losing streak and marked the end of a six-game winning streak for Baltimore.
The Braves took an early lead with a two-run double from Marcell Ozuna in the top of the first inning. Ozzie Albies contributed an RBI single in the fourth, and Orlando Arcia had an RBI double in the sixth that made it 4-0 in favor of Atlanta. Kyle Stowers hit a three-run homer off of Pierce Johnson to get the Orioles on the board in the bottom of the seventh. The Braves scored two more runs in the ninth as Michael Harris II reached home plate on a wild pitch and Matt Olson clubbed an RBI double.
Albies had a total of four hits in five at-bats on the day to help lift the Braves to victory.
Reynaldo Lopez was Atlanta’s winning pitcher; he surrendered just two hits, walked one, and struck out eight in six scoreless innings. Rasiel Iglesias got the save. Cole Irvin took the loss for Baltimore.
The Braves remain in second place of the National League East with a record of 36-30 on the 2024 season. They will begin a six-game homestand tonight with the first of three games versus the Tampa Bay Rays. First pitch is slated for 7:20 pm at Truist Park.
