(Media release from Floyd County, GA Schools):
Armuchee High senior Kileigh Barcomb has been selected to serve on the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Student Advisory Council for the second consecutive year.
Barcomb, who was recently recognized as the Positive Athlete regional winner in cheer and gymnastics, plays a crucial role in her athletic and academic pursuits at Armuchee High.
In terms of sports, Barcomb is a member of the competition cheer team, football cheer team, and tennis team.
She also excels in her studies, taking part in all Advanced Placement and dual enrollment courses.
Outside of her sports and studies, Barcomb is an active participant in the AHS National Honor Society, Key Club, and FBLA. She holds the position of class Vice President and is also the Vice President for NHS.
“I am so excited to meet the new group of students who will be coming in this year,” said Kileigh Barcomb. “Last year, we were a very like-minded group who were all there with the same goals; improving opportunities for all of GHSA and making an impact for GHSA student-athletes. We all worked together last year, and it was a great experience overall. I met new friends and Penny Pitts, who oversees competition cheerleading for GHSA and has become a great mentor to me.”
“We are so proud of Kileigh,” said Mr. Joseph Pethel. “She is as dedicated and motivated as any student I have had the pleasure to work with, and I know she will be a great asset to the GHSA Student Advisory Team!”
The student advisory council consists of 20 student-athletes from around the state with a male and a female representative from each classification and four at-large members. Applications for the council were submitted in the spring and scored by a panel. The council will have its first meeting in Macon on August 21.
