ATLANTA BRAVES OPEN ROAD TRIP WITH WIN IN BOSTON OVER THE RED SOX

The Atlanta Braves opened a nine-game road trip with an 8-3 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday evening in the first meeting of a two-game set at Fenway Park in Boston, MA. It was the second straight win for Atlanta.

The Braves jumped on the board during the top of the second inning as Matt Olson and Ozzie Albies each scored on an error. The Red Sox notched a run in the bottom of the third on a homer from Dominic Smith and assumed a 3-2 lead with a two-run single by Bobby Dalbec in the fourth. Sean Murphy had an RBI single for Atlanta which tied the game at 3-3 in the fifth. The Braves surged ahead with a three-run homer by Albies during the sixth. Orlando Arcia added a solo shot in the seventh. Michael Harris II also clubbed an RBI single in the top of the ninth inning.

Max Fried was Atlanta’s winning pitcher. He gave up three runs (two earned) and four hits, walked one, and struck out a career-high 13 over seven innings of work. Kutter Crawford was charged with the loss for Boston.
