The Atlanta Braves finished a seven game homestand with a 3-1 win over the Oakland Athletics on Sunday afternoon in the finale of a three-game weekend set at Truist Park. That allowed the Braves to take the series by two games to the As’ one.
Matt Olson got the Braves on the board in the bottom of the first inning with an RBI single against his former team. The As tied it up at 1-1 with a home run by Zack Gelof off of Dylan Lee to begin the top of the seventh. The Braves again took the lead in the bottom of that inning with an RBI double from Sean Murphy, another former A. Ozzie Albies added some insurance for Atlanta with an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Atlanta starting pitcher Charlie Morton surrendered just one hit, walked five, and struck out six over six scoreless innings. Lee was credited with the win, while Raisel Iglesias picked up the save. Austin Adams was charged with the loss for Oakland.
The Braves went 3-4 during their homestand and remain in second place of the National League East with a record of 33-24 overall. They are off today and will begin a nine-game road trip with the first of two games up in Boston, MA versus the Red Sox on Tuesday evening. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:10 pm at historic Fenway Park. Tune into play-by-play coverage from the Atlanta Braves Radio Network locally on WLAQ 1410 AM/96.9 FM; airtime is 5:55 pm.
