ATLANTA BRAVES SHUT OUT WASHINGTON NATIONALS IN NL EAST ACTION ON TUESDAY NIGHT

The Atlanta Braves blanked the Washington Nationals 2-0 on Tuesday night in the second meeting of a four-game National League East set at Truist Park. It was the ninth shutout win of the year for the Braves and evened the series at a game each.

Marcell Ozuna got the home team on the board with a home run to lead off the bottom of the seventh. A sac fly by Jarred Kelenic gave the Braves a 2-0 advantage later that inning.

Max Fried was Atlanta’s winning pitcher. He gave up seven hits, walked one, and struck out six in eight scoreless innings. Raisel Iglesias secured the save. Jacob Barnes was charged with the loss for Washington.

The Braves will host the Nationals again tonight at 7:20 pm. Rookie Spencer Schwellenbach, who played for the Rome Emperors only weeks ago, is slated to make his major league debut as Atlanta’s starting pitcher.
