The Atlanta Braves beat the Chicago Cubs 9-2 on Wednesday evening in the middle outing of a three-game set at Wrigley Field in Chicago, IL. It evened the series up at a game each.
Atlanta got on the board with a two-run homer from Adam Duvall in the top of the third inning. The Cubs scored a run on an RBI groundout by Miguel Amaya in the sixth. The Braves scored six runs in the seventh. Zack Short hit an RBI bunt single and Ozzie Albies drove in a run on a sac fly during that inning, while Marcell Ozuna clubbed a three run homer. It was followed by a home run off the bat of Matt Olson. The Braves scored their ninth run of the night when Michael Harris II reached home plate on a wild pitch in the top of the eighth. The Cubs scored a run on a wild pitch in the bottom of that inning.
Max Fried pitched a complete game en route to the win for Atlanta. He gave up just two runs (one earned) and three hits, did not walk a batter, and struck out nine. Justin Steele was charged with the loss for Chicago.
