The Atlanta Braves split a double header with the San Diego Padres to close out a four game series at Truist Park on Monday. San Diego won the opener by 6-5, while Atlanta snapped a four-game losing skid with a 3-0 shutout win in the nightcap.
Highlights of game one included back-to-back home runs by Marcell Ozuna and Matt Olson during the Braves’ three run third inning. Ozuna hit another home run in the second outing.
Chris Sale was the winning pitcher for Atlanta in game two after surrendering just five hits, walking none, and striking out nine in seven scoreless innings. Raisel Iglesias picked up the save. Joe Jimenez was charged with the loss in game one after giving up four runs to the Padres in the eighth inning.

Thus ends a seven-game homestand that began for Atlanta with a set against the Chicago Cubs and resulted in a total of three wins and four losses. The Braves are still in second place of the National League East with a record of 27-17 on the ’24 regular season. They will open a six-game road trip tonight with the first of three games up in Chicago versus the Cubs. The first pitch is slated for 7:40 pm.
