The end of the 2023-2024 school year is drawing near. And this has been a school year worth celebrating, attests Gregory Wooten, Executive Director of Communities in Schools of Rome-Floyd County, who adds that the upcoming summer break is also worth celebrating.
The recently held Cardboard Challenge and the distribution of mini-grants to local teachers were among this school year’s successes for CIS, says Wooten, who adds that the organization is now focused on its 2024 Ticket Fundraiser for which a winner will be drawn at the Flapjack Breakfast set for Saturday, June 1st at Applebee’s.
Tickets for the fundraiser cost $20 each and may be purchased from any CIS board member or by contacting Wooten at (706) 802-5740. Participants have chances to win $500, $200, and $100 gift card baskets. Proceeds will support the CIS mission to help local students stay in school and achieve in life.
Mentors and volunteers are currently sought by the organization for the 2024-2025 school year. For more information, visit www.cisrome-floyd.org.
