WLAQ SPORTS OFFERS A GLIMPSE INTO LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL TEAMS FROM THE COACHES’ PERSPECTIVES AS THE SEVEN HILLS ROTARY CHRISTMAS TOURNAMENT NEARS

The 2023-24 season is well underway for local high school basketball teams. Ian Griffin, Owner/Managing Partner of V3 Magazine, on behalf of WLAQ Sports, recently conducted interviews to get the coaches perspectives’ on the season. Fans may find a link via the WLAQ – Rome page on Facebook to these interviews, which are available on YouTube. Featured schools include Armuchee, Coosa, Darlington, Model, Pepperell, Rome, and Unity Christian. Coaches discussed their teams, their schedules, and the Seven Hills Rotary Christmas Tournament.

WLAQ 1410 AM/96.9 FM will provide broadcast coverage of the Christmas Tournament again this year. Games will be played this Friday, Saturday, and on Monday on the campus of Armuchee High School. The tournament will culminate with the championship round in the Cage Center at Berry College next Tuesday, December 19th.

Local girls and boys high school basketball teams will compete for a coveted Gold Ball in the 70th annual tournament. WLAQ Sports’ Matt Davis says that he eagerly anticipates this early-season holiday tradition with a post-season atmosphere.

The participating schools for 2023 will include Armuchee, Calhoun, Coosa, Darlington, Model, Pepperell, Rome, Unity Christian, and Woodland.
