ATRIUM HEALTH FLOYD RECOGNIZED FOR MATERNITY SERVICES

(Media release from Atrium Health Floyd):

Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center and two other Advocate Health hospitals have been designated “Maternity Care Access Hospitals” by U.S. News & World Report.

These hospitals provide quality care to expectant parents in areas that would otherwise be maternity care deserts.

Atrium Health Union, in Monroe, North Carolina, and Aurora Medical Center – Bay Area in Marinette, Wisconsin have also been named Maternity Care Access Hospitals.

At Floyd Medical Center, more than 2018 babies have been born this year. The hospital also features the only Level III neonatal intensive care unit in the immediate region and a neonatal transport team that serves northwest Georgia and northeast Alabama.

Meanwhile, 15 Advocate Health hospitals are being recognized by U.S. News & World Report as “high performing” and considered the best maternity hospitals in the nation.

In North Carolina, high performing hospitals include: Atrium Health Cabarrus; Atrium Health Pineville; and Atrium Health University City.

High performing hospitals in Illinois include: Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital; Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center; Advocate Lutheran General Hospital; and Advocate Sherman Hospital.

High performing hospitals in Wisconsin include: Aurora BayCare Medical Center; Aurora Lakeland Medical Center; Aurora Medical Center – Bay Area; Aurora Medical Center – Grafton; Aurora Medical Center – Oshkosh; Aurora Medical Center – Sheboygan County; Aurora Medical Center Summit and Aurora Medical Center West Allis.

To be recognized as high performing by U.S. News, hospitals must excel in multiple quality metrics, including C-section rates, newborn complication rates, breast milk feeding rates and early elective delivery rates. Hospitals must have C-section rates that are 26% lower, and newborn complication rates that are 37% lower than unrecognized hospitals to earn the designation.
