INTRODUCING THE ROME EMPERORS! ROME, GA’S MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL TEAM GETS A NEW NAME AND LOOK

Rome, Georgia’s Minor League Baseball team has a new name – the Rome Emperors. This was unveiled during a celebration at AdventHealth Stadium on Thursday night.

Rome remains an affiliate of the Atlanta Braves as it has been since 2003, but with a new name, stated David Lane, General Manager, at a press conference prior to the unveiling.

Lane indicated that the name reflects the quality of life in Rome, Georgia, as well as this city’s similarities to ancient Rome.

The team’s mascot is the Swingin’ Penguin with a nod to emperor penguins, the largest of all penguins.

Rome, GA is in some good company when it comes to quirky team names in MiLB, mused Lane.

The Rome Emperors will open their 2024 season on April 5th at AdventHealth Stadium versus the Hickory Crawdads.
