The National League East champion Braves head into the homestand with an MLB-best record of 100-56. They became the first team to reach 100 wins in 2023 with an 8-5 victory over the Washington Nationals on Sunday afternoon in game two of a doubleheader at Nationals Park up in Washington DC. That resulted in a 3-1 series win in Atlanta’s last road trip of the ’23 regular season.
The Cubs are 82-74 and in second place of the NL Central. They are now in the hunt for a Wild Card spot in the 2023 MLB postseason.
Atlanta’s series versus the Cubs will be followed by three games against the Washington Nationals at Truist Park over the weekend.
