ATLANTA BRAVES SNAP LOSING SKID WITH TUESDAY NIGHT WIN AT HOME OVER PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES

The Atlanta Braves beat the Philadelphia Phillies 9-3 on Tuesday evening in the second outing of a three-game National League East set at Truist Park. It allowed the division champion Braves to snap a four-game losing skid.

Ronald Acuna Jr. led off the bottom of the first inning with a home run on his bobble head night.

The Braves scored two runs in the fourth on an RBI single from Kevin Pillar and four more during the fifth on a walk by Matt Olson, a two-run double by Marcell Ozuna, and a sac fly by Orlando Arcia. Bryce Harper got the Phillies on the board with a three-run homer in the sixth. Atlanta tacked on two more in the bottom of that inning, including Acuna’s second home run of the night.

Ozuna also contributed an RBI single during the sixth, and the Braves picked up a win over the Phillies, again, by a final score of 9-3.

Spencer Strider was credited with the win for Atlanta after surrendering three runs and four hits, walking none, and striking out 11 through seven innings of work. Cristopher Sanchez took the loss for Philadelphia.

The NL East-champion Braves improved their MLB-best record to 97-54 on the 2023 regular season, and the second-place Phillies are 82-69. The teams will meet in their series finale this afternoon. The first pitch is scheduled for 12:20 pm at Truist Park. Catch all the action on WLAQ 1410 AM/96.9 FM; airtime is 11:05 am from the Atlanta Braves Radio Network.
