ATLANTA BRAVES SPLIT TWIN-BILL IN PHILADELPHIA VERSUS THE PHILLIES

The Atlanta Braves split a day-night double-header against the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. Atlanta emerged victorious in the opener by 10-8 over 10 innings, while Philadelphia won the nightcap by 7-5.

Highlights included the 50th home run of the 2023 season for Matt Olson; that was his second during game two.

Michael Harris II also homered in that game. Kyle Wright was charged with the loss in his return to Atlanta’s lineup.

Harris and Ronald Acuna Jr. had back to back home runs in game one. Kevin Pillar and Orlando Arcia each drove in a run that lifted the Braves to victory in extras. Raisel Iglesias got the win, while Kirby Yates picked up the save. Starting pitcher Charlie Morton struck out nine.

The National League East-leading Braves maintain the best record in MLB at 94-50 and are one step closer to clinching a sixth straight division title. The second place Phillies are 79-65. Those teams will meet again tonight in game three of a four game set at Philadelphia. First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 pm.
