The Atlanta Braves beat the Colorado Rockies 7-3 on Wednesday night in the finale of a three-game set at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado, which allowed Atlanta to sweep the seven-game season series between the teams.
Kevin Pillar got the Braves on the board with a home run to lead off the top of the third. The Rockies tied it at 1-1 in the bottom of that inning on an RBI single from Ezequiel Tovar. Marcell Ozuna delivered the tiebreaker by grounding into a fielder’s choice during the fourth. Travis d’Arnaud grounded out to drive in another run in that inning. Ozuna hit a solo home run in the sixth. Orlando Arcia had a two-run shot during that inning to set a franchise record for most home runs in a single season at 250. The Braves notched another run in the sixth when Michael Harris II reached on an infield single. The Rockies scored runs in the bottom of the sixth and seventh innings on a sac fly by Hunter Goodman and a home run from Alan Trejo.
Darius Vines secured the win for Atlanta in his major league debut. He gave up two runs and four hits, walked one, and struck out five through six innings of work. Kyle Freeland was charged with the loss for Colorado.
The National League East-leading Braves improved their MLB-best record to 87-45 on the 2023 regular season. They will be in Los Angeles, California to begin a four-game series against the NL West-leading Dodgers tonight. First pitch is scheduled for 10:10 pm Eastern.
