ATLANTA BRAVES DROP SERIES OPENER AT TRUIST PARK TO LOS ANGELES ANGELS

The Atlanta Braves were defeated by the Los Angeles Angels 4-1 on Monday night in the opener of a three-game interleague set at Truist Park, bringing the Braves’ most recent winning streak to an end at three straight games.

Luis Rengifo homered for Los Angeles to lead off the top of the first inning. Randal Grichuk led off the fourth with a home run to make it 2-0 in favor of the Angels. Matt Olson led off the bottom of the fifth inning with a home run for the Braves.

The Angels notched two more runs on a solo home run from Chad Wallach in the sixth and an RBI single from CJ Cron in the ninth. They won the game, again, by a final score of 4-1.

LA superstar Shohei Otani went 2-for-3 on the night.

Charlie Morton was charged with the loss for Atlanta after surrendering three runs and six hits, walking three, and striking out eight through six innings of work. Chase Silseth got the win and Reynaldo Lopez picked up the save for Los Angeles.

The National League East-leading Braves still have the best record in MLB, now 67-37 on the ’23 regular season. The Angels are 56-51 and in third place of the American League West. Those teams will meet again tonight at Truist Park. First pitch is set for 7:20 pm. Catch all the action on WLAQ 1410 AM or 96.9 FM; airtime is 6:05 pm from the Atlanta Braves Radio Network.
