The Georgia’s Rome Office of Tourism invites the public to the Georgia’s Rome Photo Exhibition featuring photography by local photographers that showcase the beauty of Rome and Floyd County. The photos are currently on exhibit at the Rome Area History Center through August 19, 2023.
Judges from the Rome Georgia Photography Club juried the show and selected the photographs to be included in the juried exhibition. The winners of the exhibition are:

– 1st Place, Places – Ivan Felipe
– 1st Place, Drone – Marc Borchardt
– 2nd Place – Mallory Rampley
– 3rd Place – Teresa Allen
– People’s Choice – Shaylan Labre-Johnson
– Honorable Mention – Amy Richter
– Honorable Mention – Madison Morris
– Honorable Mention – Jennifer Smith
Photographers whose work is included in the exhibition are: Teresa Allen, Jason Blalock, Marc Borchardt, Heather Brunson, Nathan Cheek, Ivan Felipe, Elisa Gianelli, Holly Hodge, Shaylan Johnson, Heidi Lambert-Payton, Amber Maxwell, Madison Morris, Cayden Pope, Tony Pope, Mallory Rampley, Amy Richter, Jennifer Smith, Misty Van Staaveren.
Out of 140 photos submitted for the contest, 20 photos were selected by jurors to be in the exhibition. While there were plenty of submissions for the contest, there were not enough submissions to jury the “Event” category, so two first place winners were selected from the “Places” category.
Ribbons were awarded to all photographers who placed. 1st Place winners received a $100 Gift Card and People’s Choice received a $75 gift card. Winners chose a gift card from their business of choice among Georgia’s Rome Hospitality Association Member businesses. They also received a one-year membership to the Rome Georgia Photography Club. Juror and master photographer Frank Cardamone presented critiques of each piece awarded.
Three master photographers from the Rome Georgia Photography Club juried the entries selected for the exhibition, and then juried from those photos works to be awarded ribbons at the show. The judges have a broad and well rounded knowledge of photography and are Frank Cardamone Jr., Lorrie Smith, and Anne Say.
Frank Cardamone Jr. is the current President of the Rome Georgia Photography Club, and is an award-winning photographer. His work can be seen in numerous publications around the world. He owns Cardamone Photography and specializes in wedding, event, sports, portrait and landscape photography. Lorrie is the owner of L. Smith Photography, former President of the Rome Georgia Photography Club. She specializes in portrait, studio, macro and nature photography. Ann Say is a a brand photographer and specializes in helping businesses with their visual branding that connects with their customers.
Photographers have the option to sell their photography displayed at the exhibition and will retain 100% of the total sale. Photos will be featured throughout the year in print and online media promoting Georgia’s Rome with credit given to the photographer.
The exhibition is held on the 1st floor exhibit space of the Rome Area History Center located at 305 Broad Street. Admission is free and open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. To learn more about the exhibition, visit RomeGeorgia.org/Exhibit.
