ATLANTA BRAVES DROP SERIES OPENING SLUGFEST TO ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS

The Atlanta Braves lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks by 16-13 on Tuesday night in the opener of a three-game set at Truist Park. It was the third straight loss for Atlanta, while Arizona snapped a four-game losing skid.

Austin Riley drove in a career-high seven runs for the Braves in this slugfest to include a three-run homer in the bottom of the fourth inning and a two-run shot in the sixth.

Orlando Arcia also had a two-run shot for the Braves during the bottom of the fifth inning.

Christian Walker homered twice for the D’backs with a solo shot in the fourth and a three-run homer in the sixth. Emmanuel Rivera had a solo home run in the second.

Raisel Iglesias took the loss for Atlanta. Miguel Castro was credited with the win and Kevin Ginkel got the save for Arizona.

The National League East-leading Braves still have the best record in Major League Baseball, now 61-32 for the 2023 regular season. The D’backs are in third place of the NL West at 53-42.
