The Atlanta Braves fell to the Chicago White Sox 8-1 on Sunday afternoon in the finale of a three-game interleague set at Truist Park. It allowed the White Sox to take the weekend series by 2-1 and marked the Braves’ first series loss since May.
Chicago took an early lead with four runs in the top of the second inning to include a two-run homer from Jake Burger. Matt Olson had an RBI single which drove Ozzie Albies home to score Atlanta’s only run of the day in the bottom of the third.
The White Sox scored two runs during the top of the fourth and two more on a home run by Luis Robert Jr. in the sixth.
The Braves’ streak of consecutive games with a home run ended on Sunday at a franchise-record of 28.
Kolby Allard was charged with the loss for Atlanta after giving up four runs and seven hits, walking one, and striking out one over just one and two-third innings. He left the game in the second with left shoulder tightness. Dylan Cease was credited with the win for Chicago.
