The Atlanta Braves beat the Seattle Mariners 3-2 on Sunday in the finale of a three-game interleague set at Truist Park. It allowed Atlanta to take the series by two games to one.
Matt Olson got the Braves on the board first with an RBI double that scored Ronald Acuna Jr. in the bottom of the first inning. Jarred Kelenic led off the top of the second with a home run for the Mariners that tied the game at 1-1. Atlanta regained the lead on an RBI single by Eddie Rosario during the third. Travis d’Arnaud made it 3-1 in favor of the Braves with a lead-off home run in the sixth, his first homer of the season.
Jose Caballero clubbed his first major league home run for the Mariners in the top of the eighth, but the Braves held on for the victory, again, by a final score of 3-2.
Jared Shuster picked up his first major league win for Atlanta after giving up just one run and one hit, walking one, and striking out seven in six innings of work. Raisel Iglesias was credited with the save. George Kirby was charged with the loss for Seattle.
The National League East-leading Braves are now 29-17 on the 2023 regular season. They will host the NL West-leading Los Angeles Dodgers (who are 29-19) in the opener of a three-game series tonight.
