The Atlanta Braves were defeated by the Texas Rangers 7-4 on Tuesday night in the middle outing of a three-game interleague series in Arlington, TX. That evened the series up at 1-1.
The Braves scored first on an RBI single by Orlando Arcia during the top of the second inning. The Rangers surged ahead with three runs in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI double by Nathaniel Lowe and a two-run homer from Adolis Garcia. They added another run in the sixth with an RBI single from Jonah Heim and increased their lead to 6-1 in the seventh with RBI singles by Marcus Semien and Robbie Grossman. Atlanta notched three runs during the eighth on a solo home run by Ronald Acuna Jr. and a two-run homer by Sean Murphy. But that’s all she wrote for the Braves. Ezequiel Duran had a solo home run in the bottom of that inning to provide insurance for the Rangers, who won the game, again, by a final score of 7-4.
Jared Shuster was charged with the loss for Atlanta after giving up three runs and three hits, walking two, and striking out three through five innings. Dane Dunning picked up the win and Will Smith got the save for Texas.
