CORONAVIRUS REPORT FROM THE GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH

Just 1,494 new cases of the coronavirus and eight virus-related fatalities were reported in Georgia on Sunday by the state Department of Public Health.

According to the latest update by the DPH issued just before 3 pm, there have been 804,812 confirmed cases of COVID-19 statewide. The state’s death toll now stands at 14,633. In Floyd County, there were 9,149 confirmed cases and 158 fatalities. Gwinnett County had this state’s highest number of confirmed cases 79,153, and Fulton County had the most deaths with 1,022.

As of the latest update to the DPH’s vaccine dashboard on Sunday afternoon, 1,750,686 vaccines had been administered statewide; that includes 1,152,092 first doses and 598,594 second doses. The number of vaccines administered here in Floyd County totaled 30,519.

The DPH’s Northwest Health District has announced that the free COVID-19 testing site in Floyd County at the Coosa Valley Fairgrounds, located at 1400 Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard in Rome, will be open on Wednesday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
