AAA: GEORGIA’S GAS PRICES ROSE BY SIX CENTS DURING THE PAST WEEK

Georgia’s gas prices have increased over the past week. AAA, The Auto Club Group indicates that motorists statewide are now paying the average price of $2.16 per gallon of regular unleaded gasoline; that is six cents more than last week, 16 cents more than last month, and 29 cents less than at this same time last year.

It now costs $32.40 to fill a 15-gallon tank of gasoline; that’s $4.50 less than what motorists paid in January of 2020, when pump prices hit last year’s peak of $2.46 per gallon.

Montrae Waiters, a spokeswoman for AAA, said, “Pump prices increased for Georgians this week. If total domestic crude supply continues to drop, crude prices could continue to increase and push pump prices higher.”

Rome is among the least expensive metro markets statewide with an average of $2.09 a gallon.

Sunday’s national average of $2.31 a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was six cents higher than last week, 16 cents more than a month ago, and 28 cents less than this time last year.
