In need of something to bolster your holiday spirit? WLAQ 1410 AM and 96.9 FM invite you to tune in this Sunday evening at 6 pm for a rebroadcast of The PERC Radio Players’ production from 2017 of ‘It’s A Wonderful Life’. Mark Van Leuven, Director, indicates that some of Rome’s finest performers brought the classic holiday tale to life in this production that was adapted for radio.
‘It’s A Wonderful Life’ was originally broadcast live from the historic DeSoto Theatre in downtown Rome and featured authentic – not digitally generated – sound effects.
The message of hope relayed in the show is needed in a year like the one that we’ve experienced in 2020, asserts Van Leuven.
The PERC (or Peacefully Engaging the Rome Community) is now under the umbrella of AMP Rome, a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit. AMP is an acronym for Art, Music, Purpose.
In other theatrical offerings for the holiday season, the Rome Little Theatre’s production of ‘A Christmas Carol’ will stream for free on demand on Saturday and Sunday, December 19th and 20th. This production is sponsored by RACA (or the Rome Area Council for the Arts). Find a link to access the stream via the theatre’s website at www.romelittletheatre.com.
