A BUSY DAY IS AHEAD FOR ROME CITY COMMISSIONER WENDY DAVIS, ONE OF GEORGIA’S 16 ELECTORS

Today will be a busy day for Rome City Commissioner Wendy Davis. She is among 16 electors from Georgia to the Electoral College who will head down to the State Capitol in Atlanta to cast their vote in favor of President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris. It will mark the first time that Georgia has voted for a Democrat since Bill Clinton in 1992.

Davis asserts that she will be done with her electoral duties in plenty of time to make it to the Rome City Commission’s meeting slated for this evening via Zoom.

A state’s number of electors is based on its number of representatives plus its two senators in US Congress, according to Davis, member of the Democratic National Committee.

Tonight’s Zoom meeting of the Rome City Commission will be streamed live via Facebook. That 6:30 pm virtual gathering will be preceded by a caucus at 5 pm. Davis encourages Romans to get involved with local government, as it often has a greater impact on them than what happens in Washington DC.
