Close to 48,000 Georgians have been infected with coronavirus as the death toll is now approaching 2,100, per the state Department of Public Health.
According to the latest report by the DPH, there were 47,899 confirmed cases of COVID-19 across Georgia as of 7 pm on Monday night. There were 2,089 deaths related to the coronavirus. In Floyd County, there were 268 confirmed cases and 15 fatalities. Fulton County tallied the highest number of confirmed cases in the state with 4,621 and the highest number of fatalities with 241.
The Georgia Department of Public Health has announced that effective today, the COVID-19 Daily Status Report will be updated once every day – at 3 pm – to allow time to process and validate laboratory and case reports. A number of changes are being made to the report to make it more user-friendly, as well as to provide an accurate picture of COVID-19 in the Peach State. The report may be viewed online at www.dph.georgia.gov.
