Get into that holiday spirit in downtown Rome on Saturday at the Downtown Holiday Open House! The event will feature free trolley rides with Santa and Mrs. Claus from 11 am until 3 pm, as well as a Candy Cane Hunt at the Town Green at 1 pm sponsored by Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation, states Megan Treglown, the Public Relations Director for Rome’s Downtown Development Authority, who adds that this will be a great day of holiday shopping and a lot of fun for the kids.
The Downtown Holiday Open House is made possible financially by BID (or the Business Improvement District).
Treglown encourages locals to mark their calendars for the night of Thursday, December 12th. That is the date of Rome for the Holidays. Businesses in the downtown area will stay open late that evening in order to allow customers to finish up their holiday shopping.
For more information about either of these events, visit the Rome Downtown Development Authority’s website at www.downtownromega.us.
The Christmas Window Competition will also be taking place throughout the holiday season among downtown businesses; it will kick off on Saturday.
